Introduction
The ID SIS HPC group provides a range of services to all members of ETH. Our core services include the operation and the maintenance of the central HPC clusters of ETH. We are also planning to extend the current clusters with new systems for big data, as well as cloud computing and spark/hadoop systems.
Further more, we provide certain applications (MATLAB, CLC genomics server) in terms of software-as-a-service, to simplify offloading resource demanding task from the users computer to a central server, running on our HPC clusters. These services do not require the users to establish an SSH connection to the clusters or to work on the Linux command line. Jobs can be offloaded directly from a graphical user interface, which is running on the users computer.
We also provide to some amount consulting for scientific computing, helping users to install software, setting up and optimizing their workflows. We work closely together with the Research Informatics and Scientific Software and Database Management groups in ID SIS.
