DNS Outage (20.08.2024)

The ETH-wide DNS outage on 20.08.2024 had some consequences for the Euler cluster.

The known issues are:

  • many, but not all, jobs failed. If your job failed between 10:25 and about 13:00, then this is a probable cause.
  • storage directories (/cluster/work, /cluster/project) could not be newly mounted, leading to "permission denied" or I/O errors
  • "permission denied" errors when accessing /cluster/project storage volumes persisted until around 16:00.
